Of Note: Deborah told us that we received a $500 donation last week through this link and it came from a non-member who saw our article on Pen Bay Pilot.

Speaker of the Day: District Governor Joel Philibert

DG Joel’s theme this year is Rotary Opens Opportunities.  We need to keep members happy and keep them involved in addition to bringing in new members that fit into our clubs.  He quoted Paul Harris, “It is a changing world and we must be prepared to change with it”.  He said we need to be creative and revolutionary during this pandemic.

DG Joel’s project this year will be a water project in Peru.  The glaciers there are melting and southern Peru is very dry.  The population is drinking water without having any microbiologic analysis done which brings many diseases.

Our club is donating $1,000 to the DG’s project.  We also have an anonymous $500 matching challenge from a club member, so that could be up to $2,000 total.

DG Joel recommended trying online fundraising to replace missing fundraisers.  Many clubs are trying this.
