Pre-meeting Chatter! They don’t insulate houses down south like they do here! And plumbers will be busy for a while… In the south, a $2 word is better than a 25¢ word. Cookies were all outstanding! Did you know you can add hair and lipstick to your pic on zoom?

Speaker of the Day: Shelly Butler/PAWS

Member of the WB Satellite Club. Executive director of PAWS. What has changed in the last 12 months? In the beginning, it was business as usual. Lots of activities and volunteers, March was a big shift, dropping to taking in strays and adopting out pets. They are still open, staff are still employed. Doors were closed to public and 100% virtual business. Almost all pets were adopted out by end of April. So in May, a shift was made. For community members, PAWS wanted to give services to those in need. Providing preventative care for pets and want to keep pets in their homes. Adopting a more social service approach and is working with community partners to make this happen. Providing temporary boarding and food products to community members are in transition. Spay and neuter to low income, vaccinations, food and supply pantry, landlord education, link people to resources in the area and many more supportive services.
PAWS will expand their partner base and move forward with the services they are providing now. A home for ME rescue groups from the South, home visit for those who cannot get out of the house. Continue to grow and expand to meet community needs. There is a dog park off route 1, about 1.5 acres. Open to the public (near the old location).
  • Mary Sargent is challenging WB members matching up to $250 in donation to PAWS! Make donation to PAWS if you want it tax deductible. Place a note on the donation regarding the challenge.
