Speaker of the Day: Sharon Hobson/One Less Worry

Sharon is the cofounder and exec director of One Less Worry. Sharon Thanks all of West Bay Rotary for all the donations for the organization, Thank You! OLW works with 23 partner organizations. Creative thinking was required for this Covid season in order to meet the community needs. Working with seniors, who couldn’t come into public, so volunteers were delivering the supplies to these seniors. The people they are serving has doubled and some groups were coming in as their need evolved. Schools were another challenge (14 in total), they were not meeting, so drop off sites were developed. There is a lot more delivering to community members. Had a lot of grants and community support to fund these increases. 350 miles of toilet paper this winter! This New Year has not changed. OLW has increased advocacy work, SNAP benefits only cover food, therefore a need is present here as well. A resolution was written and sent in, it passed legislation! Now we need to encourage other states to pass similar resolutions. This starts people thinking about government offerings. The 5th Anniversary is next month! They are looking for short shout out clips to share.

Short Foundation Board meeting is right after the meeting today!
